September 12, 2008 - Arlington, MA -- Lance Armstrong might be leading the big French race next July, but Ciclismo Classico, one of the top bicycle vacation companies in the world, won’t be far behind. That’s because the Arlington, MA-based company, who currently operates nearly 50 itineraries around the world, will once again be offering cyclists the opportunity to “Follow the Race” in France.
“It’s the ‘Lance factor’ that seems to get everyone excited about following the race every year,” says Ciclismo Classico founder Lauren Hefferon. “So, we decided to offer people the opportunity to actually experience some of the same routes that the world’s top cyclists ride.”
Ciclismo Classico’s 8-day intermediate-level tour will take place during the French race in July 2009, and will follow select routes from the race. Guests will have the opportunity to conquer some of the most famous climbs and descents in the world, with the daily trek averaging between 40 and 60 miles.
The company’s top tour leaders, with years of experience riding the race route, will take guests to the best vantage points to spectate and cheer as some of the world’s most elite athletes whizz by. This tour includes 7 days of spectacular cycling, expert tour leaders, use of a fully-outfitted bicycle, race viewing at superb vantage points, accommodations and meals, cultural encounters, language lessons, and many surprises along the way, in true Ciclismo Classico fashion.
Space is limited to this one-time-only departure, so interested travelers are encouraged to reserve as soon as possible. A $500 refundable deposit is required to hold a spot. When the official itinerary is announced, guests will be asked to confirm their space within five business days.
