Christmas celebrated in a Noida Mall to create awareness of growing Congenital Heart Defects in India

  • (1888PressRelease) December 09, 2014 - Noida - Congenital Heart Defects are the number one birth defect in the world, affecting about 1 in 100 births. Highlighting the plight of such kids and their families, The Child Heart Foundation in association with Wave Mall, sec-18 organized games and an art program for children with congenital heart defects for a cause on the occasion of Christmas. The event was organized by Child Heart Foundation run by parents of children with heart disease solely committed to raise fund for children of underprivileged families for the treatment of their heart ailment.

    The full day was dedicated for children with congenital heart defects. Patients and their families along with cardiologist and pediatrics of the leading medical institutes gathered to spread awareness about the disease among patient organizations, health and individuals who are unaware of this life-threatening disorder. At the end of the program each children got gifts from child heart foundation.

    Mrs. Versha Bengani, who is associated with CHF said, "Such an event is a step forward towards universal Child Heart Care especially in terms of heart disease. People should take initiative to help for such a cause. It is the most common Birth defect missed most commonly in utero evaluation by ultrasound. Each year one million babies are born with congenital heart defects. Ten percent of them do not live to see their first birthday due to lack of treatment."

    The Day witnessed a gathering of young children suffering from Congenital Heart Defects, accompanied by their families, with a hope for a better future for themselves. The paintings made by these school kids were put on auction, with an idea to donate the money raised from the sale for the treatment of underprivileged kids.
