March 19, 2008 - After a devastating fire that destroyed the restaurant which had been a landmark for more than two decades, China Plaza is back up and running. Empire Companies’ Jim Reardon and Jeff Reale of the family-owned and operated remodeling, custom building and real estate company in Rockland were at the helm of the rebuilding project.
According to Joe Chan, “Empire Companies rebuilt our restaurant and managed everything. I’m very excited about this project. They built beautiful custom counters and a bar. Where other contractors would have come in and left a mess, Empire workers cleaned up the mess every single day.”
He continued, “Jim and Jeff worked very hard to get everything done for me and they took photos daily which showed the progress of the project. The turnaround time was reasonable and on schedule. I’m very lucky. You can trust them.”
The restaurant’s extensive fire damage meant that Empire had to take the structure down to the foundation and rebuild from the ground up.
“We were fortunate to have been selected by the Chans for their rebuild and we’re extremely pleased to have been able to play a part in the design and construction of their new establishment,” explained Reale.
