Child Soldiers To Benefit From Montclair Art Exhibit

Local entrepreneurs bring Ugandan tragedy to light through the works of Jersey bred artist, Patrick Smith.

Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) June 01, 2008 - Local business owners Lola Arowolo and Emmanuel Midy of La Penderie Boutique (Montclair, NJ) and iWYK Marketing (Maplewood, NJ), respectively, will be hosting an art exhibit at La Penderie on June, 21st 2008. The exhibit will showcase original works by Maplewood native, Patrick Smith. Proceeds from the show will be donated to further the work of InvisibleChildren.com.

InvisibleChildren.com is a movement started by three young filmmakers who traveled to Africa in search of a story. What they found was a neglected world of Ugandan night commuters and child soldiers. Upon returning to the states, they created the documentary “Invisible Children: Rough Cut,” which exposes the tragic realities that the students encountered while on their journey.

With their forthcoming art exhibit, aptly named “Pop…goes the rifle!” these young entrepreneurs hope to shed much needed light on the “Invisible Children” of Uganda.

La Penderie is a boutique offering designer labels for the style and socially conscious consumer of today.
