June 17, 2009 - B2B and B2C Chief Marketing Officers from leading companies throughout North America met to assess ways of improving performance and ensuring ROI at the Chief Marketing Officer Summit in Boca Raton, FL. Keynote Deborah Nelson, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Technology Solutions Group, HP, discussed this very issue in her presentation “Counting what Counts: ROI Techniques and Tools to Demonstrate Marketing’s Value.” Her session gave practical solutions to ensure that marketing’s impact cannot be ignored.
In his presentation, Rakesh Sahay, Chief Marketing Officer of Global Electronic Services at GE Capital Corporation discussed the application of analytical marketing to a B2B scenario. By outlining the marked difference between B2B and B2C marketing, Mr. Rakesh highlighted the importance of the sales force in this B2B relationship, how the sales force can be structured and more importantly, what analytical methods could be applied to improve the overall process.
Speakers from Pitney Bowes and Xerox Corporation addressed evolving corporate brands to communicate brand identity across market sectors. Richard Wergan, Vice President, Worldwide Brand Marketing and Advertising, Xerox Corporation, reviewed the evolution of popular brands such as Nike and Apple throughout their lifecycle and drew on the experience of Xerox’s recent re-branding to share the process and positive results. Daniel Kohn, Vice President, Corporate Marketing, Pitney Bowes showed how this type of evolution can change the customer’s perception of a brand and tap into desired target groups.
