November 21, 2008 - Saint Charles, IL -- Jim Goodrich, musician and host of the weekly show With A Voice Like This, celebrated the one year anniversary of his show by releasing a collection of original and newly arranged holiday songs. It's called With A Voice Like This Christmas and has been released on Amazon.com, iTunes and CD Baby.
“The release of the holiday album really brings the show full circle to end the year.” said Goodrich. “I started the show by documenting how I researched and recorded the album with today’s Internet capabilities.”
The album includes only original songs like Christmas Angel, a doo wop tune or arrangements of songs in the public domain, like Deck the Halls and We Three Kings. Goodrich sings all of the parts on the album, truly making it a do-it-yourself project. It encompassed the months of November and December in 2007. The album wasn’t complete until after December, so this release marks the first time it’s available for the holiday season. It is a fitting marker for the first year of the show itself.
Kicking off the show was the album however it quickly evolved into a look into the week-by-week experience of this Chicago-area musician. The show has everything from what choices to make in building a website to talking with professionals in all areas of music. Special guest are sometimes featured. Examples include performers like Samantha Murphy and Gary DeVar, PR firms like Ariel Hyatt from Cyber PR and the Chicago Music Commission Interim Executive Director Paul Natkin who discussed the Proposed Chicago Event Promoter Ordinance.
“I talk about everything from copyright issues that face internet use today to where I’m going to be performing next to how to take care of your voice for both podcasters and singers. It’s a real mix of topics and information.” said Goodrich. “It helps me think through some of the things I want to do and has even introduced me to more people in a short time than I would have ever met in all areas of music. It’s been a great help to me.”
