Cherry Bomb Charmers Are Spreading the Shove

  • Jacksonville, FL (1888PressRelease) August 02, 2015 - Orange Park's premier junior roller derby team, the Cherry Bomb Charmers, will clash with the Savannah-based Derbytaunts in what could be the final matchup between the two teams for the 2015 junior roller derby season on Sunday, August 30th. The junior roller derby bout - billed as the CBC's "Summer of Shove" - will take place at the Skate Station Funworks located at 230 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Florida, at 6:00pm on Sunday, August 30th. Rink doors will open at 5:30pm for the bout. Admission for the event is $5 at the door. Active duty military and children ages 10 and under are admitted free. Roller derby fans should remember to bring their own chairs for the event.

    "Summer of Shove" promises to be a landmark event during the Charmers' 2015 season, not only for the hard-hitting action which is the hallmark of these two teams, but because the CBC Junior Derby has also chosen "Summer of Shove" in which to debut the league's new Micro Derby Team: the Sparks! The CBC's Sparks are comprised of girls and boys, ages 6-10, who will be introduced during the "Summer of Shove" halftime.

    "This is going to be a tough bout for us," said Charmers' General Manager, Dana Wolfe, "The Derbytaunts are excellent competitors and it's going to be a fantastic opportunity for the Cherry Bomb Charmers to show our Sparks just how action-packed junior roller derby can really be."

    The goal of the Cherry Bomb Charmers junior roller derby team is to encourage young skaters to realize their full potential and to empower them to become courageous young women, radiating confidence on and off the track. As a Charmer, junior derby skaters learn lifelong team-building skills. Skaters learn strength and independence, all the while celebrating their own individuality and unique identity in an atmosphere of sisterhood and family-like stewardship.
