September 17, 2009 - So who says Chennai is a sleepy town with nothing happening and has people not open to new ideas and new events? The Basics Life Dan Nainan Show by Galatta Media on Saturday, September 12, 2009 was yet another proof that Chennai is a place for exciting shows and enthusiastic people.
The Basics Life Dan Nainan Show was put together in less than 2 weeks and it was every moment of hard work well spent when we heard the 1000-strong crowd roar in laughter and break into guffaws at the wit of Craig Gallyot, Kartik "Higher" Iyer (the opening act artistes) and Dan Nainan, the feature act from the USA.
While Craig connected with the Chennai crowd in everyday life experiences, like at Chennai airport, railway station and yoga (and kept everyone in splits), Kartik had everyone on the floor laughing when he took off on "Tam-Brams", Facebook addicts and Anglo-Indians from Perambur. Of course, Dan brought a whole new subtlety to humour when he let loose his act, from hilarious slide shows to a take on being Indian-Japanese-American and some superb impersonations of George Bush, Bill Clinton and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
At the end of the show, all we could hear from everyone who came was - Chennai could do with more shows like this because the space is there and the people are ready for it! Which only encourages Galatta Media to keep bringing in new and interesting events to the region!
