  • Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) September 30, 2010 - As October approaches and Halloween is just around the corner, fake zombies, witches, and black cats will soon adorn the doorsteps and lawns of our local neighborhoods. Yet while the fictional zombies and witches will largely disappear following the Halloween holiday, there is an unfortunate community of black cats, particularly in South Florida, who suffer throughout the year on account of their poor reputation of being sinister and unlucky.

Many people may not realize that the black cat's unfortunate reputation has resulted in a very low chance of adoption and a plight of homeless black cats. Yet as feline overpopulation concerns persist, black cats are in a particularly regrettable position. To help address this ongoing problem, the Cat Network will be hosting its inaugural charity event "Le Chat Noir" (the Black Cat) on Saturday October 2nd at 7pm at the Wolfgang Roth & Partners Fine Art in the Design District. "By hosting Le Chat Noir, we hope to provide an evening of entertainment and educate guests on programs to help humanely control stray populations so fewer cats enter our shelters" says Charlene Grall, President of the Cat Network.

The dual soiree and fundraiser will celebrate the elegant glamour of the black cat in an evening of old-Hollywood style in black and silver fashion, hors d'ouevres and cocktails. The highlight of the evening takes center stage when black cats, adorned with diamond-studded collars strut down the catwalk, demonstrating their grace and beauty. Sharing the runway, Miami fashion designer Eva Trubetskaya debuts her new collection from DEVA swimwear. Also in attendance at the event will be celebrity guest, Christopher R. Coppola, member of the well-known Coppola family, who will arrive on his Harley along with his black cat partner, Otto. The fascinating duo, who have appeared on such shows as the Animal Planet, will be cruising around Miami on the Harley on Saturday, arriving to the charity event in stylish top hats. Mr. Coppola and Otto will be participating in interviews at the Epic Hotel.

Live DJ music, cuisine, and cocktails courtesy of Bacardi and Smith & Wollensky will lavish and entertain guests. Attendees may also participate in a silent auction with all proceeds benefiting The Cat Network, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless cats.
