April 14, 2008 - Adrian Bertolini has launched the Change a Million Light bulbs project at http://www.changeamillionlightbulbs.com to encourage Australians to switch from incandescent to fluorescent and LED light bulbs, thereby using less energy, causing less greenhouse gases to be emitted, and preserving the environment. The project also aims to have children and adults that they can make a real and lasting difference with the larger issues that affect people's lives.
Bertolini came up with the idea as a result of his leading the Self-Expression and Leadership programme for Landmark Education, a worldwide training and development company, that empowers people in creating projects that positively impact communities. The project highlights how regular incandescent bulbs are inefficient, using about 95% of their energy for heat instead of light, thereby wasting most of the energy used to power them. Incandescent bulbs are more energy efficient, last much longer, and over time save money as well as the environment.
One way the project encourages people to change light bulbs is by putting together programs for young people to sell fluorescent bulbs instead of sweets to raise money for their school or other causes. This not only helps light bulbs change, it educates young people and has them participate in making a difference and preserving the environment.
Change a Million Light bulbs provides information to schools, businesses and individuals, gives presentations and offers easy ordering of fluorescent bulbs. To get involved, go to http://www.changeamillionlightbulbs.com.
