September 14, 2008 - Ask a dad rushing to drop off his stepkids at their father’s house what he is planning to do for Stepfamily Day and you’re likely to be met with a look of bewildered surprise. Turns out the most stepparents have no idea that a day has been designated to acknowledge them.
Three blended family expert coaches want to change that around. According to Emily Bouchard, director of Blended-Families.com, “there are millions of people living in blended family situations who think they are alone in their experience. With one in three Americans living in stepfamilies, we wanted to do what we could to raise awareness about Stepfamily Day and to show them that they are not alone.”
On September 16, 2008, there will be three different opportunities for stepparents to participate in live question and answer calls offered at noon, 3pm and 9pm Eastern time. Using an innovative way to collect specific questions prior to the calls, “we can be sure to address all the concerns listeners have, while still having an environment where everyone can easily hear the expert answers” explains Jesse Fisher, the LLC's Managing Member.
“We wanted to come up with a way to honor stepfamilies while giving them access to experts they might not otherwise be able to afford” explains Bouchard. “We created a program for Stepfamily Day that anyone could access, no matter where they live or what their circumstances.”
