February 24, 2008 - The animated duo of Ceasar and Chuy will be inviting their audience to critique music videos via text messaging, according to producer Keu Reyes. “We want to see what kind of responses we can generate using this text messaging phenomenon,” explains Reyes. Ceasar and Chuy will invite the audience to share their comments and opinions regarding the music videos they are watching by sending a text message to a number displayed on the screen.
Tentatively starting Wednesday nights at 6pm and 9pm, Ceasar and Chuy will host “Amateur Music Video Critic Night”, with the first night of the series being this February 27th. The text-messaging will only be available during the music video segments of the show, and viewers will be able to read their messages in real-time, on an on-screen graphic overlay labeled the “Video Hater Box”.
So far, Ceasar and Chuy has been a mega-hit for the 18-34 viewer demographic and now the production plans to expand its interactivity with the audience. "By providing an outlet for our viewers to be part of our show, we feel it will increase our audience's loyalty," says Reyes.
Ceasar and Chuy's animator Alfonso Amey says that "This will be the first time that a music video show will encourage the viewers to critique the music videos, rather than just pointing out what's good. We're very excited to see our audience's response to this new interactive type of communication."
Ceasar and Chuy airs on the LATV Network Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, at 6pm and again at 9pm. The "Amateur Music Video Critic Night" will be featured during the Wednesday's broadcasts.
