Carolina Pottery Opening Marks Latest Retail Development in NC

Caldwell County Economic Development Commission facilitates the marketing of Caldwell County to encourage job creation, retention, and investment. The commission's goal is to establish the county as a desirable destination for business, industry, retirement, and tourism.

Hickory-Morganton-Lenoir, NC (1888PressRelease) April 15, 2009 - North Carolina based retailer Carolina Pottery recently expanded its retail properties in North Carolina, opening its fourth store location in Lenoir.

The 75,000-sq-ft store offers an eclectic variety of home furnishings, including pottery, housewares, dinnerware, silk flowers and wicker furniture. Carolina Pottery officially opened on March 14 on U.S. 321. With its retail expansion in Caldwell County, Carolina Pottery employs 30 to 50 full and part-time employees.

According to Lisa Sims, Marketing and Business Development Coordinator with Caldwell County Economic Development Commission, Carolina Pottery brings a fresh retail concept to Caldwell County. “We hope this latest retail expansion will attract tourists traveling to and from the mountains of North Carolina,” Sims said.

When scouting retail properties in North Carolina, the location on U.S. 321 and tourism from within the region made Caldwell County a prime pick for Carolina Pottery to expand its growing business and spur retail development in NC.“We want to grow in the Carolinas,” said Tim Marsh, Carolina Pottery. “It’s our vision for the next few years.

“U.S. 321 has been a very active highway,” he continued, “and we think we can pull some business, not only from the mountains, but also from Morganton and Hickory.”

Sims said Carolina Pottery’s opening is another example of the interest in retail properties in North Carolina, and more importantly, Caldwell County, even in spite of tough economic times.
