January 24, 2009 - Canon India Pvt. Limited, India’s No 1. Complete Digital Imaging Company, received awards for excellence in technology during the recently held Photofair ’09. Specialised photography magazines, Asian Photography and Smart Photography acknowledged Canon for its cutting-edge technology and constant innovations in its products.
The Asian Photography Awards felicitated, Mr. Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon India, with the title of the “Second Most Influential Person in Photography”. The first position was awarded to All India Photographers Traders Association. Canon’s Inkjet All-in-One, MP 638 won the title of “Best All-in-One Printer”. The MP 638 offers high-quality scanning at 2,400 x 4,800 dpi while capable of advanced media handling. With superior printing speed of 25 ppm & 21 ppm for B&W and Color prints, this all-in-one utilises the ChromaLife100+ system, which ensures that photos are preserved in their original form for up to 300 years. Canon was also awarded the prestigious “Best Compact Digital Camera of the year” award for IXUS 85 IS.

The Smart Photography Awards ceremony witnessed Canon bagging awards in 4 categories. The first of these was won by Canon’s PowerShot A590 IS in the category of “Best Budget Compact Camera of the Year”. Packed with advanced processing power, this compact and ergonomically designed camera is easy to use and swift to operate. Canon’s EF-S 60mm f2.8 Macro USM won the “Best Macro Lens of the Year” award. This lens brings out 70 years of excellence in optics by Canon. The Canon EOS 50 D was titled the “Best Prosumer/Mid Level/Enthusiast SLR of the Year”. The EOS 50 D offers 15.1 mega pixel APS-C size CMOS sensor for high resolution images of superb quality and details. Also, the jury was presented with an extremely tough decision for the position of “Best Professional DSLR of the Year” and a tie was witnessed between Canon EOS 1DS Mark III and Nikon D 3. Canon EOS 1D Mark III enables users to manually set up to 5 different personal custom white balance options, especially useful when shooting under multiple lighting conditions, among many other features.
At the Better Photography Awards ceremony, Canon India was presented with the award for “Service Backup of the Year”. Other awards for Canon included “Semi professional Interchangeable Lens Camera of the Year” for Canon EOS 50D. This 15.1 megapixel camera offers high resolution images of superb quality and details. Its DIGIC 4 Imaging Processor’s 14-bit A/D conversion gives rapid processing speeds while maintaining fine detail and accurate colour reproduction. The award for “Entry Level Interchangeable Lens Camera of the Year” was awarded to EOS 1000D which makes used of DIGIC III imaging processor for fine-detail, and natural color processing, providing picture styles optimized for the photographic subject and intention, The other awards included “Advanced Compact Camera of the Year” for Canon PowerShot G9, “Professional Interchangeable Lens Camera of the Year” for EOS 1DS Mark III & “Basic Compact Camera of the Year” for IXUS 950IS.
The digital imaging industry, which is constantly growing in the Indian market, is encouraged and motivated by such awards.
