December 22, 2006 - A leading marijuana expert, Gary Evans, has just announced that his website www.cannabisaddicts.com has just had a new design installed.
Gary has commented and said; "The old website was looking a bit dreary and needed a new design. It had an awful photo of me on the front page, which I am thankful to say has now been removed."
Marijuana is the most used illegal drug in the United States and across most of the world. According to the UN's estimate, 141 million people around the world use marijuana. This represents about 2.5 percent of the world population. These are staggering figures and prove the need for services such as CannabisAddicts.com which is helping users to overcome their addiction.
In 1999, more than 220,000 people entering drug abuse treatment programs reported that marijuana was their primary drug of abuse. By 2007 these figures are likely to have tripled if not quadrupled.
Marijuana is becoming an every day thing for some people. We asked Gary why he felt so many people are becoming addicted to marijuana:
"I think the addiction behind marijuana isn’t one that is held within marijuana itself but it is held in the mind. We become “addicted” to marijuana because we are addicted to the feelings that marijuana gives us. So, it isn’t the marijuana itself or the chemicals within – sure the chemicals induce drowsiness which is something you can become addicted to but it is the feeling that is addictive. Same goes for people who become addicted to sex. Is sex addictive? No! But it is the feelings that these people are addicted too that makes them want to do it over and over again.
We are a society surrounded by drug and chemical abuse, and the worst part about it is that no one will admit that it is their own fault. They seek blame on drugs and focus solely on a chemical which could be considered addictive, we should be focussing on ourselves and why we have become addicted in the first place."
