Canada Post / XYNYTH Manufacturing Corp. North Shore Winter Safety Campaign A Huge Success

This past Saturday, over a thousand North Shore residents got up early and braved the cold for a free 10lb bag of environmentally-friendly GroundWorks Natural Icemelter™.

(1888PressRelease) January 10, 2008 - This past Saturday, over a thousand North Shore residents got up early and braved the cold for a free 10lb bag of environmentally-friendly GroundWorks Natural Icemelter™. Event organizers, Canada Post and XYNYTH Manufacturing Corp., were thrilled with the turn out. “It really demonstrates,” says a XYNYTH Rep, “that not only do people genuinely care about their letter carriers, but that they also genuinely care about the environment.”

The Be Nice, De-Ice Campaign was aimed at making winter working conditions better for local letter carriers. During the winter, 60% of letter carrier injuries are due to slips, trips and falls, and more than 70% of those occur on or near customers’ properties. Canada Post want to encourage North Shore residents to use icemelter (de-icer) to make their driveways, steps and walkways slip-free. The trouble is, however, that icemelters have a bad-rap – they’re often corrosive, toxic and damaging to concrete and landscaping. That’s where XYNYTH came in. XYNYTH Manufacturing Corp. is the proud manufacturer of one of the only truly environmentally-safe icemelters on the market today: organic GroundWorks Natural Icemelter™, which boasts all of the power of traditional de-icers, with none of the risks. By partnering with XYNYTH, Canada Post presented homeowners with the perfect option.

Leading up to the event, North Shore residents received flyers, ads and coupons from Canada Post and the North Shore News. On December 08th, XYNYTH Manufacturing Corp. and Canada Post were at the North Vancouver Wal-mart to give away 10,000lbs of product for free.

“We gave away 1,000 10lb bags in less than 45 minutes,” says one Canada Post volunteer. “We were blown away by the response.” Those who were too late for a free bag were directed to some of the many GroundWorks™ retailers (Wal-mart, Home Hardware, Home Depot, Rona, and Lowes to name a few). “We’ve had a wonderful response,” says XYNYTH Sales Manager Marc Bélanger.
“People were thrilled with their free gift, and so happy to learn that there is an environmentally-friendly option out there. We are pleased we got to be involved in such a great campaign.”

Canada Post is already planning similar campaigns in other BC communities (Prince George, for example, and Kamloops). XYNYTH hopes this North Vancouver campaign will help draw attention across the board to the importance of making environmentally-responsible choices all year long.
