Call For Targeted Visa Scheme

Leighton Holdings CEO, Wal King, has called for a more targeted engineering migration program to be implemented in Australia.

(1888PressRelease) September 05, 2007 - Leighton Holdings CEO, Wal King, has called for a more targeted engineering migration program to be implemented in Australia. In his address to an Infrastructure Partnerships Australia conference, the construction group's head claimed such a measure is needed to improve Australia's infrastructure.

He also recommended a widening of the nation's temporary worker visa program and suggested a "mature debate" is needed on Australia's future energy requirements. Meanwhile, Macquarie Bank head of investment banking, Nicholas Moore, told the conference that there is a large degree of suspicion regarding the private sector. Moore claims infrastructure is "crucial" in the housing affordability debate.
