California Fire Victims Get A Voice Through Free Online Service

Trauma Victims Find Comfort And Encouragement Expressing Their Grief - Sharing Their Stories

Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Goleta, CA (1888PressRelease) October 30, 2007 - In an effort to assist Southern California fire disaster victims, Interclique Inc. announced today that it has launched a free online social network service, DisasterVictim.org. According to Richard Girard, CEO of Interclique Inc., “We saw the pain and desperation in so many of the victims on TV and felt compelled to help in some small way. We specialize in online social utilities so we thought that by creating a free community website where victims can share openly their stories, emotions, struggles and ambitions with one another, we could serve as an aid to those suffering the most. In essence, this service gives victims a voice.”

DisasterVictim.org gives disaster victims a safe haven to congregate and have their voice heard. “It’s a non-commerce, fully secure site. We don’t want these families to be exploited in any way”, said Jonathan Kroll, President of Interclique. “We searched the Net and didn’t find a social utility geared toward helping victims of disasters. The mission is straight-forward - give the victims an online medium that offers some useful tools to get their lives back – that’s it. For instance, if a family or individual that has been victimized by the fires wants to communicate to friends and loved ones, or has a specific need - be it monetary, housing, transportation, grief counseling, what have you - they now have a voice that can be heard.”

Donors, suppliers, philanthropists and volunteers can connect with victims through DisasterVictim.org to offer their assistance in a discreet, non-threatening manner. “This site will be strictly controlled and closely monitored for any fraudulent activities and we will not be accepting donations on behalf of victims. Rather, we will direct anyone who wants to donate to the Red Cross via a link on our site. Additionally, Interclique Inc. will donate a significant portion of any and all advertising revenue collected from the DisasterVictim.org site to the Red Cross”, said Kroll.

Victims of catastrophes often require extensive counseling, encouragement and help from loved ones as well as time, to heal and recover from their life-changing plight. Studies have shown when people suffer great loss, whether it is a home, a loved one or a pet, sharing and expressing the emotions they feel with other like victims and/or loved ones is one of the best means of healing.
