February 26, 2009 - Barry-Wehmiller International Resources (BWIR) and SolidWorks have come together with an innovative industry-academia initiative for promoting cutting edge technologies of 3D mechanical CAD (MCAD) software in India. As part of this novel initiative a workshop on “Getting the best out of 3D Modeling using SolidWorks” will provide the required orientation for the students to understand the evolution of 3D Modeling and the how-to of 3D Modeling using SolidWorks.
The workshop is open to students of Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu. All attendees of the workshop stand to receive a SolidWorks Student Design Kit and scholarships for the CSWA Examination. The SolidWorks Student Design Kit will enable them to practice and prepare for the certification examination, which would be conducted on pre-announced dates in May and June, later this year.
Mr. Senthil Kumar, Vice-President and Partner, BWIR added “We always felt the crunch of specialized designers in India and thus came the idea of starting a unique programme of this sort to create a talent pool. We have taken ‘Design Ace 09’, as an opportunity to reach out to and address the talent pool by getting students certified on SolidWorks. The CSWA is a globally recognized certification and will for sure equip the students for a global career.”
‘Design Ace 09’ is an, annual design contests for all engineering students across TamilNadu being held on March 7 in Chennai. The competition is an effort to promote and encourage design capabilities among the engineering students in TamilNadu. BWIR has taken this effort to give an opportunity for young brains to bring out their fresh, innovative ideas and exhibit their design capabilities.
Announcing this unique initiative, Mr. P.M Ravikumar, Education Manager India-SAARC region at SolidWorks said, “We are proud to be part of this unique initiative, and this as a great opportunity for us to reach out to the student community to share our knowledge of Cutting Edge technologies. SolidWorks is a leader in the league of Mechanical CAD tools today, and hence students are sure to benefit out of this program.”
To participate for the Workshop on “Getting the best out of 3D Modeling using SolidWorks” and to receive the scholarships, the candidates are required to register at BWIR Desk at Tapovan Hall, Chinmaya Heritage Center, 13th Avenue, Harrington Road, Chetpet, Chennai, by 1.00 pm on March 7th 2009, Saturday. Limited seats are available for the workshop and seating will be on a first come first served basis. The first 50 registrations will also receive additional exciting gifts.
