  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) September 14, 2016 - A bunch of lads from the U.K., British rock group "Where Fires Are ", have something all indie bands covet but rarely possess: momentum. Catapulting from a successful UK summer festival run and an in-studio documentary, the quintet's trajectory is sky-high as they "Brexit" the U.K. this week to try to start a fire in New York City as one of the many hopeful bands playing at the inaugural MondoNYC music summit, September 14 - 18. They'll be playing at Bowery Electric's Map Room, September 17 at 6:30 PM.

The group met at Leeds School of Music and gathered steam over the last year, performing at some of England's premier events, such as Leeds Festival and Reading Festival. Fully immersed in a relentless touring ethic, Where Fires Are is determined to play every gig they can get their hands on and once boldly launched a row boat across a pitch-black River Thames to make a midnight show.

In person, the band is charming and sincere, the sort of lads with whom you'd like to have a beer. On stage, the five-member band often rocks audiences in angular dark blue and purple body paint that covers their faces and torsos. It's a pre show ritual they describe as "throwing shapes".

"On stage, our alter-egos take over and we let loose," says keyboardist Nick Banks. "It's like an out-of-body experience."

Armed with nothing but the volume of their passion, Where Fires Are looks to spark a flame of curiosity among music journalists and record labels as they perform at Mondo NYC Music Summit with songs like "Kill My Mind" "Your Brother" and "The Joys."

This week, get ready for lead singer Robbie Gillespie to utter the soon-to-be-iconic introduction, "We are… Where Fires Are!"
