June 24, 2009 - Held at the Zolder Race Track in Zolder, Belgium on Tuesday 6th June 2009, the event brought together members of the Blackstar Lifemembers Community, Ecademy’s premier business club for small business owners. The daytime event provided opportunities for attendees to solve tough business issues and included presentations from co-operative publisher Ecademy Press, virtual tables and a round table discussion on “How to survive and thrive through the financial crisis”. In the evening, attendees received a lecture by Antonia Harrison on “How to overcome limiting beliefs”. The networking continued well into the evening with a dinner open to all other Ecademy members and their guests.
Thomas Power, chairman of Ecademy, was also in attendance to show his support as face to face networking events continue to form an integral part of the Ecademy’s global offering for small business owners.
“Online business networking is a critical component to doing business in the 21st Century and utilising business social networking sites such as Ecademy is proving to be one of the most cost effective ways to gain new business, establish business partnerships and establish new friendships along the way. The fact that so many members travelled to Belgium to attend the event is testament to the depth and quality of the business relationships developing within the Ecademy community,” says Thomas Power.
Ecademy was the UK’s first business social network and was founded in 1998 by Penny Power as a way of managing her husband Thomas’s vast numbers of contacts across the globe. Eleven years on, Ecademy is helping business owners connect in over 200 countries and has over half a million users per month, combining the flexibility of online networking with the opportunity to meet face to face at regular networking events held across the world.
“One of the major advantages of being a Blackstar Lifemember on Ecademy is the fact that you can attend Blackstar Events like this all around the world. Listening to the comments and reactions afterward, this was definitely one of the very best events ever organised by Ecademy in Belgium,” explains Blackstar member Geert Conard.
The Blackstar Belgium event comes hot on the heels of Ecademy’s first UK ‘Twalk’, an innovative networking and training event which combined a picturesque walk in the Surrey hills with practical training on the use of Twitter for business and was attended by over 60 Ecademy members earlier this month.
