March 26, 2009 - HSP Painting Company is kicking off their second annual $10,000 charity makeover. HSP collaborates with other local businesses to combine money, time and resources to form the HSP Charity Alliance. This alliance will award a local charity $10,000 in painting and remodeling services. The Sparks Chamber of Commerce has nominated four deserving charities in need of these services. The HSP Charity Alliance asks members of the community to go online and vote for their favorite charity. Polls will close on May 25th. At the HSP Charity Alliance event on May27, the charity with the most community support will be awarded the $10,000 makeover.
This year's charity finalists are: Children's Cabinet, Northern Nevada HOPES, RSVP and STEP2.
The children's Cabinet bridges the gap between available social services and the needs of local at-risk youth. The mission of The Children's Cabinet is to ensure every child and family has the services and resources to meet fundamental development, care, and learning needs.
Northern Nevada HOPES is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those affected by HIV. HOPES currently serves 728 HIV infected individuals who are considered medically underserved. With HOPES' assistance, these individuals are able to enjoy an increased quality of life. HOPES also serves the Reno/Sparks community by providing HIV prevention education to help reduce transmission of HIV infection.
RSVP, The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program of Washoe County, connects people 55 and older with volunteer opportunities for public entities and non-profit organizations to help make communities a better place to live. RSVP is a non-profit organization funded by the Corporation for National & Community Service and sponsored by the University of Nevada, Reno.
STEP2 provides comprehensive, coordinated services related to the treatment and recovery of chemically dependent women and their families, resulting in sustainable self-sufficiency. STEP2 currently provides state-of-the-art care for pregnant and parenting women and their children. STEP2 boasts a greater than 60% success rate, helping an average of 165 families each year.

This year the HSP Charity Alliance is made possible by Sherwin Williams who donated $5000 dollars towards the cause.
