Buffalo Theatre Ensemble was founded in 1987. The theater took its name from an early production of “American Buffalo,” by David Mamet, whose script instilled a naturalistic style of acting. The group is a professional theater company at the College of DuPage in residence in McAninch Arts Center. Performed are acclaimed contemporary and new works and occasional classics, all of which share a central theme: they are works that intimately examine and illuminate the complexities of human relationships. BTE’s uniqueness has always rested in the duality of a professional company within a collegiate environment, a place where professional artists, scholars and writers can merge with students and community members to explore new ideas and provocative issues.
