March 04, 2008 - In the light of Britain’s major shortage of plumbers and qualified trades people, Train4TradeSkills’ revolutionary home-learning plumbing courses have attracted thousands of would-be plumbers, including a large number of ladies, since it was launched less than 12 months ago.
The Train4TradeSkills courses are designed to enable plumbers to qualify in their own time, at their own pace, while studying from home and often working around existing job commitments, to achieve industry recognised qualifications. They are totally unique because they combine textbook theory the opportunity to try out newly learnt skills on a PC based virtual house, reinforcing the textbook studies and ensuring students practice in a safe environment, and not at customers’ expense.
Once students have passed their initial modules, hands-on practical training is offered in fully equipped workshops in Leeds, Guildford and Southampton.
Train4TradeSkills’ marketing director Mike Head said “Over a third of school leavers opt not to continue with formal education at a college or university. Courses such as ours provide students with the chance to study skills in their own time, at home, and at their own pace, as well as accommodating older plumbing students who may well want to study around existing job commitments. We currently have an ex-naval officer, a former paramedic and a number of housewives studying with us”.
