September 13, 2006 - The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s are from New York City and are known for their dominating live show. They are led by the outlandish stage antics of front woman Karen O, combined with the implausible technique of their guitarist Nick Zimmer and drummer Brian Chase.

Steve- “What do you think about Street Scene this year?”
Brian- “It’s great to be here. The weather is fantastic. Lots of people outside all looking to have a good time. Members of the New York Dolls, well at least the remaining members I guess. That’s David Johansson and Sulvain Sulvain. They’re walking around which is kind of great to see. David Johansson is one of the best characters ever, so yeah it’s great to be here.”
Steve -“Who are you excited to see here?”
Brian- “The New York Dolls definitely. I’m looking forward to seeing them. I missed their other shows in New York.”
Steve - “What’s new with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs?”
Brian- “I guess the next big thing in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs world is the release of our “Cheated Hearts” single and video. The video is pretty amazing. It’s a compilation of submissions we’ve got from our fans who we asked to dress up as the three of us and pretend they’re us playing the song Cheated Hearts. We have some really creative fans out there and we got some amazing submissions. There were a lot of guys dressed in drag as Karen. It is a collage of the best of do-it-yourself/throw-it-together home recorded video.”
Steve - “What do you think of the integration of the music world into the internet?”
Brian- “Most of my growing up in the music world really had nothing to do with the internet. I feel like its useful now for artists to put their stuff out there on their own personal pages, or through their personal servers to put their music out there. Music is really about community. The online community I feel removes people from reality too much where they don’t really become accountable for themselves as people. I think it’s a great tool and resource out there, but the most important thing is to just be out there and be involved in the music community that’s happening in your back yard, the clubs, and the practice spaces going on.”
