Boy Scout Summer Camps Protect Guns And Equipment With Reusable Dehumidifier

When all the Boy Scouts go home after summer camp ends the equipment needs to be stored for the winter, and protecting guns and other valuables from moisture damage can be a challenge.

(1888PressRelease) September 21, 2007 - Ashley Falls, Mass. -- Boy Scout camps have guns and other equipment that must be stored when the summer ends, and now they are getting help to protect their gear from moisture damage caused by humidity.

Diana Williams of Hydrosorbent Dehumidifiers has helped scout camps in New England and in the Rocky Mountains to protect valuable items from moisture damage while in storage.

"It is not enough to lock guns in a safe, or put valuables in a locked room or cabinet. We put our valuables and expensive electronics in many different types of containers without giving much thought to moisture damage, until it is too late and the damage has already been done," explained Williams.

Boy Scout summer camps have very limited funds and must make sure equipment is stored and protected during the winter to avoid expensive replacement costs. Even with best efforts, it is not unusual for Scouts to discover that their gear has been damaged during the winter because of moisture in the air.

This past year Hydrosorbent Dehumidifiers has supplied Camp Resolute of the Knox Trail Council in Mass. as well as six Scout camps in Utah and one in Wyoming in the Great Salt Lake Council with the protection they need to avoid moisture damage to guns and other expensive gear.

Since World War II, silica gel has been the desiccant of choice by military, government, industry, and now the Boy Scouts simply because it works so well at such a very low cost.

"Silica gel prevents moisture related problems before they begin. That is why so many products come with a small packet of silica gel. Silica gel creates a protective shield of dry air within any enclosed storage area," explained Williams.

Hydrosorbent Silica Gel Dehumidifiers are widely recognized as the best choice for protection from moisture. Each of the different sizes of Hydrosorbent Dehumidifiers has a built-in indicator that signals when it is saturated and ready to be reactivated, according to information at the company web site http://www.Dehumidify.com

"Each dehumidifier can be reactivated by heating it in a conventional oven. It can be reused over and over again indefinitely. For a product that has a retail cost starting at less than $7, that's a fantastic return on investment," said Williams.
