April 20, 2009 - Independent film representation company The Bosko Group finalized an agreement with Gravitas Ventures for the Video-On-Demand (VOD) release of four (4) new feature films. The movies were released April 1, 2009, for a 90-day purchase window.
The Gravitas VOD deal will make the four features available to more than 11 million viewers across the continental United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Gravitas programs 15 films per month to dozens of cable, satellite, and telco VOD providers including Charter Communications, DISH Network, RCN and Verizon FIOS.
"The VOD platform offers the perfect manner for viewers to enjoy this slate of new and entertaining movies," said Mark Bosko, partner, The Bosko Group. "My partner filmmakers are excited about this opportunity to reach such a large and diverse audience."
Films represented by The Bosko Group that are part of the VOD release include:
American Meth - Actor Val Kilmer lends his voicing talents to American Meth, a cross-country journey that focuses on several facets of the methamphetamine epidemic. From the oil fields of Wyoming and New Mexico to the homeless in Portland and the teens of Montana, filmmaker Justin Hunt spins a blue-collar tale of tragedy and triumph. The movie culminates with the introduction of James and Holly, a pair of meth addicts, and the parents of four children, who let Justin into their lives. American Meth does two things: It informs of the devastation that this drug is imposing on our country, and it encourages Americans that it is possible to reclaim our friends, our neighbors, our families, one person at a time.
Birthrite - Lost on a back road in eastern Arkansas, insurance adjuster Elizabeth encounters the creepy Charley whose aging mother, Momma Aycock, is very eager to marry off her slow-witted son. Momma decides Elizabeth is the one...if she lives long enough.
Cowboy Killer - Roy, a crazy cowboy from the old west, strolls into a small town for one last hurrah. Homecoming bound teenagers, an innocent mother, her vulgar son, and the town drunkard are but a few of the locals that bite the dust due to Roy’s hand.
