January 05, 2009 - Independent film representation company The Bosko Group finalized an agreement with Gravitas Ventures for the Video-On-Demand (VOD) release of eight (8) new feature films. The movies will be released January 5, 2009, for a 90-day purchase window.
The Gravitas VOD deal will make the eight features available to more than 8 million viewers across the continental United States and Puerto Rico. Gravitas programs 15 films per month to dozens of cable, satellite, and telco VOD providers including Charter Communications, DISH Network, RCN and Verizon FIOS.
"The VOD platform offers the perfect manner for viewers to enjoy this slate of new and entertaining movies,” said Mark Bosko, partner, The Bosko Group. “Gravitas commands a strong presence in the market, and both my company and our partner filmmakers are excited about this opportunity to reach such a large and diverse audience.”
Films represented by The Bosko Group that are part of the VOD release include:
• Bigfoot Lives - Bigfoot Lives follow the travels of the world-renowned Bigfoot hunter Tom Biscardi and his Searching for Bigfoot research team as they span the country from Montana to New York in search of the world’s most elusive and mysterious creature, Bigfoot. Biscardi has been in search of Bigfoot for close to 34 years and this documentary exposes what he has found during his expeditions through eyewitness testimonies, photos and video evidence.
• Chandler Hall - As college freshmen, Jimmy and his friends get caught up in the rush of fraternities, sex, and drugs, quickly making loads of money as dealers. But soon, Jimmy must make sacrifices for his newfound love, and then eventually betray her trust and his own integrity to make another sacrifice for his friends. This college experience turns out to truly be the experience of life and death, at Chandler Hall.
• Circle Track Summer - Circle Track Summer tells the story of a waitress with a heart of gold who puts her life in danger while trying to save the family farm in this action-packed, bikini-clad, race-car roaring laugh-riot. Watch as she and three other voluptuous local girls sign up for a new auto racing event in hopes of winning cold, hard cash. There's only one catch: To make the race more interesting, the barely-clothed drivers must drive backwards. It's “the Dukes of Hazzard meets Porky's” in this over-the-top tale that manages to neatly lampoon everything from romantic comedies to NASCAR. Buckle up for some super sexy, fast-fueled fun.
• Desert of Blood - A character-driven horror film about a vampire who escapes from fifty years of captivity beneath the Mexican desert. On his quest for vengeance, he is unexpectedly sidetracked when he falls in love with a young woman visiting from the States. His efforts to deny the monster inside him ultimately prove hopeless, as his ever-growing rage finally triggers a bloody terror spree.
• June 9 - “June 9” tells the story of 17 year-old Derek Boggman and his friends on a search for some harmless fun at the end of the school year. The group of teens, known as the “Boston Mills 5,” carelessly parade along a mischievous journey of caught-on-camera pranks. But on their quest to find even bigger thrills while visiting a legendary haunted and now deserted city, something else finds them first. The teens were never heard from again...until now. Witness the complete recording of the horrors surrounding what happened on June 9.
• The Legend Trip - A local legend turns into a horrifying reality for a group of young grad students seeking to debunk a Wisconsin haunted house in “The Legend Trip.”
• Tied Up – A mismatched group of teens want to forget their everyday woes and mostly boring lives. Their plan – a simple breaking and entering for quick cash and cheap thrills. But what seems simple and easy becomes the setting for some of life’s harshest lessons.
• Witches’ Night - Director Paul Traynor modeled “Witches' Night” after the successful fright films in the 70s, with characters to remember and relate to. "To me, the 70’s were the real heyday of horror, and those are the films we hoped to emulate,” said Traynor. “Cookie-cutter characters’ being mutilated in ingenious ways has been overdone to death. I like a great story. I like to get to know the characters, to believe in them and their surroundings, so that when they encounter something horrific I feel like I’m with them…like it’s a shared experience. I think the audience will feel the same way when watching Witches' Night."
