Boot Camp For New Dads Releases New DVD

IRVINE, CA... Boot Camp for New Dads, a fatherhood initiative launched 17 years ago, and now operating at more than 250 locations and having trained 160,000 men to be fathers, has just released their new DVD entitled “What the Men Have to Say”.

(1888PressRelease) October 11, 2007 - The new DVD, with production made possible by a grant from the Pacific Life Foundation, is a program introduction for new fathers that is geared toward reaching dads in the months just prior to their baby’s birth, which (according to research) is when men are most receptive to information and forming good habits as an involved father.

The Boot Camp for New Dads DVD will be shown to fathers-to-be and will also serve as an overview of the Boot Camp program for hospitals and other organizations that are interested in “adopting” the program. Childbirth Education classes at hospitals with a Boot Camp program already will show the DVD to expectant fathers as a way to introduce them to the important fatherhood program. Additionally, Boot Camp facilitators will be able to use the DVD as an in-class presentation.

“We’re very much committed to helping men ‘hit the ground crawling’ in their new role as fathers. Our DVD contains ‘new dad’ and ‘veteran dad’ commentary and will provide a better understanding of what Boot Camp for New Dads is all about to both organizations as well as fathers-to-be,” said Greg Bishop, founder of Boot Camp for New Dads and volunteer Head Coach for Boot Camp in Irvine, California.

A “Best Practice”
Boot Camp for New Dads is celebrated as the “Best Practice” for preparing men to be fathers and was recently named a U.S. Navy Model Program, operating at naval stations in the U.S. as well as at naval stations in Atsugi and Yokosuka, Japan and Sicily, Italy.

Boot Camp for New Dads has long enjoyed recognition as the premier program for new fathers across the U.S. Recent additions to these accolades include the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ report titled “The Importance of Fathers in the Healthy Development of Children” which included a description of Boot Camp for New Dads and several of their programs as well as their “Caring for New Moms” and “Troubleshooter’s Guide to Crying Babies”.

Boot Camp for New Dads’ mission is to help new dads face both the challenges and opportunities of fatherhood through workshops which provide them with “hands on” education in the care of their babies. Men attend the class when they are expecting their first baby, and are joined in the workshop by “veterans” who had previously attended and have returned with their two to four-month-old baby in tow. They are able to give the dads-to-be a realistic idea of what to do and what to expect when their first baby comes.
