February 01, 2010 - To raise money for the humanitarian relief effort in Haiti, children's author Daniel Britton is auctioning the first copy of his book of Financial Fairy Tales.

"There are an estimated one million unaccompanied or orphaned children or children who lost one parent," said Kate Conradt, a spokeswoman for the aid group Save the Children. "They are extremely vulnerable."
In addition, as many as 97% of schools in the Haitian capital Port au Prince have been destroyed.
"I wanted to make a contribution to the relief effort," says Daniel, "hopefully the auction will raise a significant sum, but any amount will help."
The Financial Fairy Tales series of books has the aim of improving the awareness and financial education of children. According to the author, "The books were written with a view of improving children's life chances longer term, the need of the Haitian children is immediate".
