This unique, mall based retail concept uses a computerized 50+ point skin analysis to blend custom skin care, cosmetics, and hair care products. All the blending action takes place at their exclusive “Beauty Bar”, where clients watch Skin Care Formulation Specialists blend proprietary Base products with the freshest, most cutting edge actives available in the marketplace.
“While some of our clientele have specific skin issues, a majority are simply passionate about the appearance of their skin. They want the finest products containing their skin’s ideal levels of the most advanced actives available” according to founder Lesley Sears. She adds,”Our clients are very informed consumers; they know that to achieve the results they are looking for they must use the most effective actives available. They want the actives that the FDA has just approved.” With customization Bonne Chimie offers them newly approved actives within 4 months compared to the 3 years it takes traditional products to introduce new actives. “This is huge in an industry that is driven by the effectiveness of actives” says Sears. “Unlike nearly all other products we use no mineral oil, petroleum by-products, or alcohol in any of our products. This ensures the highest level of skin absorption” says Cathy Hamil, Boutique Manager.
Expansion is underway in Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Saint Louis, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Chicago, Orlando and Dayton. These markets are a priority for the Fort Wayne based chain because of its large base of upscale sophisticated shoppers. The company’s current business model is expanding via partnerships with local entrepreneurs. Bonne Chimie provides the expertise in site selection, store layout & décor, and ongoing operational and marketing support. Franchising is scheduled in the near future but for the next year they are partnering their expertise with local entrepreneurs who will be the primary day to day operator of the location. After using Bonne Chimie customized products for about two weeks clients see a definite difference in their skin and become loyal users for life. Product formulations can also be adjusted and fine tuned as seasons change and skin changes. Replenishment of product can occur at the store, pre-arranged for automatic shipment or replenished via an internet fulfillment program.
