Bluewin TV expands its offering and becomes easier to use

Swisscom is further expanding the range of sports programmes and channels available on Bluewin TV from 1 July.

(1888PressRelease) June 21, 2009 - Customers will now be able to watch the best games from the top leagues in England (Premiere League), Spain (La Liga), Portugal (Liga Sagres) and France (Ligue 1) live as a pay-per-view service on Teleclub Sport. Split-screen coverage also allows Bluewin TV customers to follow several games at the same time.

In addition to the new options from Schweizer Sportfernsehen, seven new channels will be added to the Bluewin TV offering. The radio will be easier to use, and the electronic programme guide and recording function have also been upgraded.

In time for the kick-off of the 2009/2010 international football season, customers can now follow top games from the English, Spanish, Portuguese and French football leagues in addition to the Italian Serie A. Customers can also continue to enjoy matches from the German Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League.

Coverage of the Swiss AXPO Super League will also be enhanced. Almost all games will now be broadcast live, offering Bluewin TV customers the option of enjoying over 160 games from the top Swiss league every season. From September onwards, Bluewin TV customers will be able to watch all games from the ice hockey National League A for the first time.

The prices for viewing matches as a pay-per-view service have been standardised and will cost CHF 2.50 from 1 July. The new split-screen broadcasts, switching between AXPO Super League games, and National League A ice hockey games with studio commentary are also available for only CHF 2.50.

Eight new channels to be added to the extensive basic offering
While the selection of analogue channels offered by cable network providers is declining steadily for the majority of customers, Bluewin TV already has a broad offering, with 140 TV channels and more than 130 radio stations, including a wide variety of foreign-language channels. Swisscom is adding eight new channels to the Bluewin TV basic offering from 1 July: Schweizer Sportfernsehen (SSF), TV5 Monde FBS, La Télé, Rai Storia, FIVE, E4, More 4 and Thai TV Global Network.

Simpler, faster functions
The electronic programme guide and recording function will both be quicker and easier to use from 1 July. Bluewin TV plus customers will now see the name of the radio station they are listening to on the set-top box display and can select radio stations directly via the display. Around half of all Bluewin TV customers currently use the radio function.
