July 26, 2007 - Approximately 18,000 pigs were killed by the blue ear disease in China. That is part of the reason why the price the pork increased drastically. The price was increased more by psychology effect than the number of pigs killed since pigs killed by the disease just account for a very small amount of the total number of the pigs.
Since part of our leather belts are made by pig leather, the cost of it was more or less affected by the price increase of pork. But anyway, this is not totally bad thing for a wholesale belts manufacturer. This is a momentum the other way round for them to think of other ways to maintain or boost their competitiveness. For example, they can create more fashionable sytle and be more attached to the world market.
It is time for manufactures to reflect on how to upgrade their products lines.
