May 22, 2007 - Desperate to use their existing web site (http://www.bletchingley.org.uk) to engage residents and visitors, but hamstrung by rapidly increasing maintenance costs, Bletchingley Parish Council has turned to local digital marketing agency Compelling Minds.
Bletchingley has been online for several years with a mix of news and local information, but the ageing web site was becoming increasingly difficult and costly to keep up to date. Now the Surrey village has a brand new online home which allows members of the community to effectively inform each other of local activities and events, while handing full control of content over to the Parish Council.
There is a vastly improved news and events section, pages dedicated to local groups and clubs, such as the Neighbourhood Watch, as well as detailed information about the Parish Council. There is also a local business directory.
“We felt that the site needed to be moved over to Parish Council control and also needed to be more informative about what happens in Bletchingley,” said Clerk to the Parish Council, Kim Wantling. “Local organisations and businesses will benefit from the new site as it is now more accessible to search engines and has a better search facility itself. We hope all who visit the site will agree that it is greatly improved.”
The Bletchingley Village web site was built by Compelling Minds on their Compelling CMS platform, a flexible and affordable solution for medium-sized enterprises. The developers at Compelling Minds were mindful of the essential requirement of keeping the web site accessible to all members of the community and it was built to comply with Government regulations on disabled accessibility.
Compelling Minds Director, Jay Neill, who lives in Bletchingley said, “The old web site didn’t do this Bletchingley village justice so I am delighted that Compelling Minds was able to help the Parish Council to make the changes they needed to bring it up-to-date and make it an online home for the whole community to be proud of.”

About Bletchingley
The charming village of Bletchingley, which is of medieval origin is well worth discovering. It is located on the A25 between Redhill and Godstone and only six minutes from junction 6 of the M25. Bletchingley is well known for its specialist antique shops. Its 5 pubs are all within walking distance of each other and offer a wide selection of menus and atmospheres.
