Blackberry’s Thunder Brings Dark Skies For Apple’s iPhone

Blackberry’s Thunder rivals Apple’s iPhone, to the extent that South African cell phone users, who are more and more growing accustomed to improved mobile access and capability, aren’t rushing to purchase the newly released iPhone.

(1888PressRelease) October 10, 2008 - Following the launch of Apple Mac’s iPhone in South Africa in September, many existing Blackberry mobile owners compared features in the hopes of upgrading their phone capabilities. Owing to the expanding mobile web in the country, business is pursuing web integration at an increased pace. With over 20 million cell phone users in South Africa, “The cellphone mechanism is just much more convenient to a very wide audience,” commented Kris Jarzebowski, CareerJunction CEO.

In comparison to Apple’s iPhone, Blackberry’s Thunder offers full MS Office compatibility, (with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and Exchange support, which is suitable for business operations. For those already accustomed to using Blackberry’s formats, there would be less necessity to switch over to Apple. Thunder is the first Blackberry model with a full touch screen, with just four simple keys: send, end, menu and back. A hybrid device supports many carrier technologies, although in the US it’s available exclusively on Verizon Wireless, and on Vodafone in the Europe.

More good news for mobisite users in South Africa: websites are undergoing integration for improved mobile use. Not only will consumers have access both through Apple’s iPhone or Blackberry Thunder, but the sites will upload quickly and media will be readable. Blackberry’s Thunder in particular has a MicroSD slot for external memory and will be easily compatible with Windows, making it particularly useful for browsing and researching online. Assist 247, accredited online business directory, offers a Mobile search service using groundbreaking technology. Assist 247 spokesman commented on their new mobile search service: “Some mobile directories take a long time to download and become outdated, or don’t translate accurately to mobile browsers – delivering bitty and incomplete service information.

“Assist247 Mobile Directory is updated constantly, is cheaper than sending an SMS and is designed to work like a website on a cell phone. This means that instead of having to download a full directory each time you access our site, you can go directly to the information you need on your cell phone.”
