Here's an interesting fact that not even most birdwatchers know: there are more birdwatchers in the U.S. than there are participants in any other sport. In fact, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates that there are currently more than 51.3 million birdwatchers in the U.S. alone, and this number is growing every year.
Along with the growing interest in birding comes a new arena - birdwatching events. Each year there are dozens of festivals, fairs, competitions, counts and public surveys for people who love wild birds. Finding out about them can be a chore, since each organization that hosts the event generally only publicizes its own.
However, a new website, BirdingResources.com has recently begun its free Birdwatching Event Notifier. Sign up and receive an email whenever a new event is added to the calendar, and keep up with what's happening in the bird world.
In addition to the Event Notifier, BirdingResources.com posts a calendar on its site, has links to shopping for everything from optics to gifts, books to identiflyers, magazines and wild bird posters. You'll also find birding articles, travel information, bird trivia, links to organizations, games, puzzles and more. Backyard birders can find tips, feeders, bird houses, and books on gardening to attract birds. There's a section for kids, and a large library of articles on birding.
To sign up for the free Birdwatching Event Notifier, go to http://www.BirdingResources.com and click on the link at the top of the page.
