May 06, 2009 - Tamara B. Starr began her career in healthcare over 25 years ago. Beginning in 1982, she started out in the mailroom working for Beverly Enterprises, a nursing home chain. She worked her way up the corporate ladder, holding numerous positions from testing new computer systems to doing consulting work.
The desire to help others gave Mrs. Starr the incentive to stay in the healthcare industry. By ensuring that residents and their families don't have to worry about the appropriate intermediary/insurance paying for services rendered, the satisfaction to do the right thing was all the reward she needed. As a special projects consultant, she is in charge of accounts receivable, collections and account auditing, training and special projects. Mrs. Starr aspires to someday be a department manager of credit and collections or accounts receivable.
Shoreline Healthcare Management has been in business since August of 2004. They have over 50 facilities nationwide.
Mrs. Starr has won numerous awards for accounts receivable collections during her tenure as a business office manager at numerous nursing facilities, was chosen to be on a team to test new computer accounts receivable software for two different nursing home companies, and has attended Franklin Covey's seminar titled "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People."
Tamara donates to local animal organizations, breast cancer research, Goodwill, local hospices and American veterans. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, reading, needlework and hockey.
