November 14, 2008 - CHARLOTTE — Ms. Shew-Roffey earned an Associates in Arts in 1978 from Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Michigan and is currently attending Michigan State University with a triple major in Psychology, Sociology and Political Science. She began her career by working at a state run institution for persons with disabilities while still in High School, and has continued to help those with disabilities for over 30 years. She worked 22 years at The Clinton, Eaton, Ingham Community Mental Health Authority in Lansing Michigan before her retirement there and her move to the private non-profit sector of mental health and rehabilitation services, at Peckham Incorporated. She has now been at her current position as Residential Services Specialist at Peckham Housing Corporation for the last five years.
Patricia Shew-Roffey belongs to several affiliations such as American Association of Service Coordinators, Michigan Association of Service Coordinators, Compassion International, Peckham Foundation, and she volunteers for Habitat for Humanity.
It is a daily goal of Patricia Shew-Roffey to assist with the learning process that encompasses all of those areas of the lives of the disabled; providing them with resources, motivation and supports that enrich their lives and promote their independence.
In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her family and gardening.
