August 05, 2009 - The selection recognizes Marsha Johnson's commitment to excellence in the leadership aspect of the Air Force.
Marsha Johnson, who earned her Associates degree in Human Services in 2009 from the University of Phoenix, has been working in her field for the last 24 years, beginning in Germany in 1985.
Serving as a technical advisor for Special Programs to the Commander, Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), with a certification in International Military Community Executives Association through the US Air Force, Johnson is primarily responsible for the review, coordination, integration and outcome of all sensitive and complex special projects within the AFDW. She makes decisions on all technical, administrative and management issues and serves as the point of contact with other Department of Defense organizations concerning all matters relating to assigned projects. She also oversees policy, lead and design and conducts comprehensive studies and strategic planning on doctrines and focus groups.
Johnson believes that education and training opportunities with the Army and Air Force Commands have lead her to many successful years with the military. "Mentoring from distinguished officers and enlisted military members, mobilization and workplace professionalism," she said, also contribute to her strong founding with the military.
Mrs. Johnson is the winner of a Certificate of Appreciation Patriotic Civilian Service Award, in 1993, an Outstanding Performance Civilian of the Quarter Award in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007, numerous Certificate of Appreciation Awards, an International Military Community Executives Association Award in 2004, a Special Act Special Service Award in 2005 and a Services Senior Civilian Specialist of the Year in 2008. She is a member of the NAACP, a member of the Bolling Air Force Base Chapel Choir, a supporter of the Air Force Aide Society and enjoys gardening in her spare time.
