July 01, 2009 - The selection recognizes Deborah A. Rose's commitment to excellence in healthcare.
Mrs. Deborah A. Rose earned 4.2 CEUKs for Principles of Epidemiology, sponsored by the Public Health Practice Program Office in 1995, became a qualified perinatal grief counselor and Coordinator through Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1997, and completed a two-year management course through the Certified Public Manager Consortium from 1995-1997. After 17 years with the Chatham County Health Department, ten of which was in the role as Human Services Program Specialist for Fetal and Infant Mortality Review, followed by four years with Job Corps, Rose accepted a position with THA Group.
Mrs. Rose believes that working with great minds and learning from them is what inspired her to take on the challenges of working on the administrative side of healthcare. THA Group offers a continuum of care through four service lines comprised of Island Healthcare, Island Hospice, Independent Living at Home and Ideal Aging. Their Mission Statement says it best, "Health Care for Life at Home." Her role is working in tandem with the clinical coordinator to see that the clients get the best service and care available to them.
Appointed as the public health representative of a four-member team for the Public Health Management Program at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill during 2000-01, Mrs. Rose co-wrote a business plan for a facility to house high-risk pregnant women who lived a distance too great for safe transport during emergent situations in which the health of the mother and/or infant could be compromised. The facility was implemented and housed on the grounds of Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Mrs. Rose has been a featured speaker for various medical conferences, including: Georgia Perinatal Association, the National Fetal and Infant Mortality Review conference in Washington, DC, the March of Dimes in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia, and Healthy Start Initiative in Savannah. She developed a training manual and traveled to various Georgia counties to present mock infant death reviews with some members of the Review Team as well as provided assistance to other counties in the development of a review program in those areas. She also presented training to law enforcement officers on sensitive handling of infant death investigations.
Mrs. Rose was published in Illness, Crisis & Loss Journal, Sage Publications, and has contributed freelance writing for several Savannah business journals. She said that having had the privilege of working with very knowledgeable people that are passionate in what they do greatly attributed to any success she has achieved. In her spare time, Rose enjoys reading, writing, watching movies and enjoying the company of family and friends.
