October 13, 2007 - Power Moves, Inc. (PMI) (www.powermovesinc.com), has been retained to execute a unique grassroots marketing campaign for BET Networks 2007 Hip Hop Awards. PMI was sought out for their highly effective ability to reach the urban community on a one-to-one, peer-to-peer level invoking a plethora of word of mouth and consumer response. The Barbershop and Beauty Salon campaign, just one of many marketing initiatives executed by PMI, will be implemented to support BETs overall marketing strategies.
The BET Hip Hop Awards (BETHHA) is defining itself as the premier awards show for Hip-Hop music. Barbershops and Beauty Salons are the cornerstone of the urban community. Recognizing this, PMI will execute a nationwide campaign across ten markets utilizing branded promotional tools and premiums to publicize relevant messages about the BETHHA including the air date, performers, and guests. The Barbershop and Salon campaign was created to provide an outlet to expose relevant brand messages in an entertaining and exciting environment where the community already has a sense of comfort and familiarity. This campaign will include brand seeding by means of capes, smocks, DVD trailers, window and wall posters, standees and well informed barbers and stylists who will act as evangelists spreading the word to all who enter their establishments. Each location will be transformed into BET Hip Hop Awards central invoking awareness, excitement, and ultimately viewership. This promotion will organically give consumers a pervading sense of ownership in their decision to tune in to this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards.
Making a permanent imprint in the arena of awards shows, BET created a unique ceremony for acknowledging Hip Hop and it's achievement in the world of music. With the first annual awards show being held in Atlanta 2006, host and master of ceremonies, Katt Williams kept the tone exciting and fun. Previous acts like Atlanta’s own Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri, and Young Jeezy shook the building as they gave a one-time-only performance of last years major hit "Welcome to Atlanta". At the end of the night Grandmaster Flash walked away with the “I Am Hip Hop” Icon Award. This years event is guaranteed to be bigger than ever.
