March 01, 2007 - As a former lawyer Kate Cade knew nothing about running a gift-giving business and very little about the intricacies of the internet, so it came as a bit of a surprise that she ended up launching BeRapt, an online gift store dedicated to helping customers celebrate and nurture their most important relationships with unique gifts and an unequalled gift-giving experience.
In 2005 while searching the internet for a 5th wedding anniversary gift for her husband, she discovered a black hole where upscale gift stores should have existed. "Initially, I thought the idea of opening an internet gift store was crazy because there were so many gift businesses on the internet. But then I realised that this was exactly the reason to go into it. All of those businesses were offering the same novelty type gifts and doing little to provide a unique memorable gift experience for both the gift-giver and the gift recipient."
Over the next year, she studied the existing gift market intensively; developed a simple, elegant and easy to use website; and sourced an inspired and growing collection of imaginative gifts. In October 2006, BeRapt was launched offering an exciting selection of gifts for all occasions and recipients, priced from £15 up to £250. The ability for customers to personalise their gifts by engraving, embroidering or embossing them and then have them gift-wrapped in a branded, high-quality red box with a hand-tied ivory ribbon set BeRapt apart from its competitors. A recent customer enthused that with a glass of wine in hand and no queues in sight, she managed to arrange her niece's christening gift, have it engraved and delivered to her in a stunning red box all with a few taps on the keyboard.
