Bathtub Admirals By Jeff Huber, Outrageous Satire From Kunati, Skewers Us Military Culture

Profane and hilarious parody of the post-Cold War navy" writes Publishers Weekly of Bathtub Admirals by Jeff Huber

(1888PressRelease) May 07, 2008 - Largo, FL - Retired US navy commander Jeff Huber’s Bathtub Admirals, from Kunati Books, called a “profane and hilarious parody of the post–Cold War navy” (Publishers Weekly, 12/10/2007) owes a debt to the classic Catch-22, which Huber acknowledges influenced him deeply. Booklist (02/01/08) calls it “a remarkably accomplished book, striking just the right balance between ridicule and insight.” Entertainment Weekly has expressed interest in the book.

Huber’s “witty, wacky, wildly outrageous novel” follows the careers of Jack Hogan and Buzz Rucci as they navigate the navy’s egregiously self-serving, permanently infighting bureaucracy. Rising star Jack eventually learns that connections and playing the game will outflank competence any day of the week, but by then he’s sick of it. Unscrupulous but lovable Buzz, on the other hand, goes much farther than his meager talents should allow. The targets for Huber’s brilliant wit include feminism, Washington politicians and the miltary’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy toward homosexuals.

“Jeff’s novel is not just for readers interested in the military or foreign policy,” said Kunati publisher Derek Armstrong. “In fact, to say that Bathtub Admirals is a novel about American military policy would be like calling Batman a movie about real life in an American city. This is a very funny novel, but it also has a big heart.”

Bathtub Admirals will release to extensive publicity in April of 2008 from Kunati Books, called a “new publisher to watch” by Booklist.

Kuanti seeks out provocative and controversial fiction, as well as non-fiction that inspires and enlightens. The spring 2008 season includes two new medical thrillers, an inspiring story of a woman battling cancer and terrorized by a murderer, a literary crime novel that boasts the most unique protagonist to come along in years, a novel that explores the personality of a woman who murdered her toddler son, and a literary adventure about finding the tomb of Jesus.
