July 09, 2006 - The Bill Ault Soccer School of Excellence (BASE) will kick off this fall at the Bell Sensplex in Kanata with eight programs designed to teach the basic skills of the game to players of all ages looking to improve their proficiency and enjoyment of the game.
The developmental school, managed by Bill Ault, local coach and soccer enthusiast, will run six month, winter long programs, at the Bell Sensplex and is open to players from age 4 years to Adult. Players can sign up through the BASE Skills Development web site at www.baseskills.com.
“The Bell Sensplex is the perfect home for the school. A truly world class facility it provides the perfect learning environment for our programs. The field house I think is one of the best-kept secrets in the city and with access to the Roger Neilson Coaching Centre we can provide our student’s with the best setting possible for our programs,” said Ault.
With programs for U5, U7, U9, U11 as two programs for adults BASE is looking at improving player’s enjoyment of the sport through improvement of their skills.
“Soccer is the world’s greatest sport – but it is even more enjoyable if you master the basic skills needed to play the game. BASE Skills Development Programs look to improve the basic skills of each player giving them the foundation to move on to enjoy and excel at whatever level they wish to attain.
For the first time ever in the Ottawa area there will be an ongoing structured daytime programs for younger players and adults alike.
“In addition to our evening and weekend classes we are offering daytime programs for the youngest and oldest of our students to improve their skills.”
Soccer Play School for U5 players will run afternoons from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday and offer a chance for children to get active, have fun and get comfortable with a ball. For the adults, two programs, Soccercise and Skills Advantage offer two options – one to build fitness through soccer and soccer like activity and a hard-core skill development program for the player looking to move their game up another level.
The U7, U9 and U11 programs run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening respectively and focus on using appropriate activities at the right time to further the students development. Players will receive individual assessments and individually designed “homework” programs throughout the program. A Saturday morning program for U5, U7 and U9 players is also available.
“At these levels the individual must come first. The focus of our programs is improving each student at their own pace and own their time.”
