November 06, 2008 - On Nov. 4th 2008, Barack Hussein Obama has been named our 44th President Elect of the United States of America. The 47-year-old Senator from Illinois will be the first black president to be named the new Commander and Chief. He not only carries history on his shoulders on his historic walk to the White House, but a country that shows clear evidence of a recession, and no clear light shining over a crippled horizon.
Barack says his first line of business is to nurse our economy back to health. With his new Vice President, Joe Biden, He has also pledged to pull out most of our troops from Iraq within 16 months.
Baracks campaign showed unity and strength on massive scales as three times as many volunteers hit the campaign to put their candidate in the Oval Office. States that were Republican supporters in past election history favored the blue party leader today as first time voters flocked to the polls to cast their votes feeling that it would actually count as history was just a few hours away.
New registered voters who chose to side with the Democratic party bullied Republicans in new registered voters. Some as old as 85 felt that this time around their vote had validity. An older African American man put it best when he said, “Rosa Parks sat down so Martin could get up and march. Martin got up and marched so that Barack Obama Could run. Barack Obama ran so that my Grand Children and Great Grand Children could fly one day.”
With so much hope and history in the eyes of the African-American community in the United States, Barack Obama is a light that shines with positive illumination.
Our new President Elect has to now face the Americans that almost unanimously put him in the Oval office seat and live to the hopes and promises that he has given the American people. Time will tell, and actions will speak louder than words to tell us if this great country made the right decision.
