October 29, 2008 - Bangkok Hospital is now offering parents access to the revolutionary 4D ultrasound technology, which uses 3D pictures in rapid sequence to show a baby's movements inside the womb with amazing detail.
The 4D ultrasound technology also makes diagnosis and management of pre-birth medical conditions easier and more accurate. 4D ultrasound can be used to accurately detect and manage:
• Down syndrome
• Skeletal dysplasia
• Heart defects such as transposition of the great arteries
• Lung dysplasia
• Kidney problems
This information can be invaluable for physicians and often influences the obstetric management of patients. Previously, diagnostic procedures that required intervention into the uterus were much riskier for the fetus. The greater detail that 4D ultrasound affords means that conditions can be more accurately pinpointed with less risk to the baby.
