Bags of support for Mongolia

Mongolia is a good news story these days, and you have to look very hard for good news in these times of economic gloom.

(1888PressRelease) June 02, 2009 - In the aftermath of the withdrawal of Soviet Union subsidy, many Mongolians were without employment and the provision of quality basic services – especially healthcare and education – had nosedived.

But the intervening years have seen enormous change, and in more recent times, huge progress. Now that progress is being celebrated and encouraged this year with support from bagging giant Automated Packaging Systems.

“We are celebrating progress of our own – 25 years service in Europe,” says Automated Packaging Systems’ Mike Healey. “Our achievements are on a different scale to those being made in Mongolia, but we still wanted to find a way to mark our anniversary. So we’ve chosen to support Save the Children and its vital work in improving child welfare, education and health in Mongolia.”

Automated Packaging Systems embarked on its European adventure back in 1984. Since then it has revolutionised bagging and made it possible for thousands of small and medium sized businesses to step-up from hand-bagging to automated packaging. Now, it’s celebrating 25 years in Europe by embarking on another adventure and sending out the message that there can be no barriers when it comes to progress.

The company is sponsoring a local team in the London to Mongolia Rally in aid of Save the Children. Two students – Alice Paisley and Juliet Waud – will drive an ambulance donated by Automated Packaging Systems across Europe to Mongolia where it will be sold for local use, with the funds raised going to Save the Children.

The funds will be used by Save the Children in Mongolia to help the poorest children get healthcare, food, education and protection, explains Save the Children’s Olivia Zinzan. “Save the Children are grateful to supporters such as Automated Packaging Systems who enable us to work hard for the rights of every child, and stop millions of young children dying each year. We’re determined to make further, faster changes to the lives of children in the UK and around the world.”
