Award-winning Max Strang Architecture To Open New Office In Telluride, Colorado

Architect Max Straing is opening a new office in Telluride, Colorado.

Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) September 24, 2009 - Max Strang Architecture announced today that it will open a second office in Telluride, Colorado later this year to work with commercial and residential clients who embrace the firm’s award-winning “Environmental Modernism” style.

“I’m truly excited to have the opportunity to expand upon the success we’ve had in Miami and work in another area of the country whose design sensibilities are compatible with ours,” Strang said. “The natural resources in Colorado are flawlessly in tune with how my team and I approach our work, and we are eager to harness them as we have in Florida.” The firm is a member of the United States Green Building Council.

Since opening its doors less than a decade ago, the firm has consistently won praise and prestigious awards from both AIA Miami and AIA Florida. Most recently, Max Strang Architecture received a 2008 AIA Miami Chapter Award of Merit for the McKenna Residence and a 2007 AIA Miami Chapter Award of Merit for the Educational Center at The Kampong, a “National Tropical Botanical Garden” in Coconut Grove. In both 2003 and 2005, Strang received the AIA Miami Chapter Award for Young Architect of the Year.

Strang’s Miami studio is currently working on several high-profile South Florida projects: the new Di Mare Science Village at Fairchild Tropical Gardens (in collaboration with Corwill Architects); the new corporate headquarters of Barton G, which has grown from an event management company to include restaurants, off-site catering, and destination management; Ferretti Group's newly renovated Allied Marine Showroom in Fort Lauderdale; Grove Village, a six-block mixed-use project in the heart of Coconut Grove; and several single family private homes, including the first LEED-registered home in Winter Haven, Florida and a vacation home in the Bahamas.

Additional clients include Contender Boats, the University of Miami, British Petroleum, Home Depot, Panther Real Estate Partners, Pointe Group Advisors, Wind & Rain Properties, The Montgomery Botanical Center, and private residential clients in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, the Caribbean, and Turks & Caicos.

Strang’s own private residence in Coconut Grove caught the eye of film director Michael Mann, who cast it prominently in the film version of Miami Vice. The home has been featured in numerous design magazines including Architectural Digest’s tour-of-homes series.

Prior to launching his own firm, Strang worked in London for the world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid and in New York for ShoP Architects. The architect of greatest influence with whom Strang worked was Florida architect Gene Leedy, an important member of the Sarasota School of Architecture movement, who provided him with a solid background in classic modernism. Strang grew up in a Leedy-designed home. He graduated summa cum laude with a degree in architecture from the University of Florida, and received a master’s degree from Columbia University, along with an honor award for architectural design.

Max Strang Architecture partner and Miami studio director Jason Richard Adams, a seven-year veteran of the firm, graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Colorado. He worked in the Vail Valley for Fritzlen Pierce Architects, designing and developing high-end homes and mixed-use real estate developments. Adams will continue to direct the Miami office.
