June 09, 2009 - Award-winning entrepreneur Stephen Clarke, Managing Director of Truancy Call Ltd (www.truancycall.com), is to deliver a keynote presentation about how he started his business at a Startupslive event in Birmingham on 11 June. The event offers budding entrepreneurs the chance to hear from a range of business owners and experts about how to start up and survive in an economic downturn. It will include a mixture of presentations, panel sessions and networking.
Despite the credit crunch, Stephen has led his circa £2million turnover telecoms business to continuous growth and success, earning numerous accolades including the 2009 Fast Growth Business Award for Best Use of Technology and the 2007 BT Essence of the Entrepreneur Award. It has also been short-listed for a National Business Award for Best Use of Technology in Business (Wales, Midlands and East Anglia region) – winners to be announced on 16 July.
Truancy Call Ltd provides telecoms-based notification services, allowing two-way communication between public sector organisations and stakeholders through automated calls, texts, emails and online technology. Products include Truancy Call, Call Parents, Text Someone, Term Time Tracker, E-mentoring and Remind Patients. Since its inception in 2000, the business has gone from strength to strength, growing its customer base and developing new products to meet the needs of schools and local authorities. Its products are used in over 1000 schools in the UK, Australia and Republic of Ireland, and the company is now set for international expansion.
