Automotive Manufacturing Solutions Brings Its First Conference To India

Next month, top OEMs, suppliers and strategy experts will gather in Mumbai for the first Automotive Manufacturing Solutions India conference. From 2 - 4 December, automotive professionals will convene at the Renaissance Mumbai Hotel to discuss India’s booming automotive market and its impact on business strategies and technical issues and see the latest production technology.

(1888PressRelease) November 19, 2008 - An increasing number of international automotive manufacturers are turning to India to take advantage of low component and labour costs. Already a number of foreign-based vehicle manufacturers, such as Volkswagen and General Motors, are building new production facilities in India. At the same time as foreign investment grows, domestic output is also on the up. However, constraints such as poor infrastructure, unpredictable power supplies and high taxes on petrol, continue to hamper India’s emergence as an automotive hub.

Speakers from across the globe will discuss and debate key issues in a seminar programme looking at digital manufacturing, two and three wheel vehicles and the role that India will play in global car manufacturing over the next ten years. Delegates will have the rare opportunity to hear the thoughts of industry leaders including Satya S Veerapaneni, head of manufacturing at GM India, Tom Chackalackal, vice president of manufacturing at Ford India and Dr Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes Benz India.

India is on the verge of mass car ownership and with the cost of component manufacture up to 40 per cent cheaper than Western countries, the region is becoming increasingly popular with global automotive players. The AMS event allows delegates access to the most comprehensive information about recent trends and developments across the industry, providing them with a global perspective on the automotive manufacturing arena and a sound foundation to base their own expansion decisions.
