November 19, 2008 - An increasing number of international automotive manufacturers are turning to India to take advantage of low component and labour costs. Already a number of foreign-based vehicle manufacturers, such as Volkswagen and General Motors, are building new production facilities in India. At the same time as foreign investment grows, domestic output is also on the up. However, constraints such as poor infrastructure, unpredictable power supplies and high taxes on petrol, continue to hamper India’s emergence as an automotive hub.
Speakers from across the globe will discuss and debate key issues in a seminar programme looking at digital manufacturing, two and three wheel vehicles and the role that India will play in global car manufacturing over the next ten years.
